The animal has created a network with many-branched passages and caves underground. His structure seems to have turned out well. And yet he is constantly overcome with the fear that his burrow is not perfect enough to fend off enemies or other interferers trying to penetrate their way into the complex.
YOU ARE JUST A PIECE OF ACTION: PORTRAITS FROM THE MIETTINEN COLLECTION
We find ourselves in the year 1993 when artist and author Jutta Koether, affected by the political events of the early nineties, describes in a text for music magazine Spex the effect this has on her personal environment, and how one should react to this as an artist. “You are just a Piece of Action” she says, quoting from Andy Warhol’s book on Blue Movie. Self-reflection does not seem to be an option when the flow of events drags the actors in these.
PARADISE IS NOW: PALM TREES IN ART
Hedonism, escapism, exoticism – across continents, religions and cultures, no other motif conveys these associations more convincingly than the palm tree. The group exhibition “Paradise is Now. Palm Trees in Art” examines the existence of a modern paradise and delves into the complex iconographic spectrum of a prominent floral symbol.
KILLING ME SOFTLY: WORKS FROM THE MIETTINEN COLLECTION
The transformation of artists into people who are themselves the works of art postulated by Diederichsen, which ends in the radically subjective artistic positions seen in the works of Jensen, Melgaard, Mayer or Butzer, leads to a similar process of subjectification on the part of the collector.
